Julia Thornton is a music director, pianist, and vocal coach living in Seattle, WA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in cultural anthropology and music. She music directs and plays at a variety of theatres all over the Seattle area and teaches regularly. In addition to her musical theatre endeavors, she enjoys listening to and playing all kinds of music, spending time on her parent's farm, and enjoying life in sunny Seattle.
This season she can be seen working with The 5th Avenue Theatre, Village Theatre and Taproot Theatre in a variety of roles including music director, associate music director, pit musician, and rehearsal accompanist. In previous seasons she has worked with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, and as music director for the Gregory Award Winning Production of Into the Woods.
Julia works as a vocal coach to students of all ages. She has previously taught at Cornish College of the Arts, Village Theatre's Kidstage, Seattle Children's Theatre, Studio East Training for the Performing Arts, and more.
